When the Canadian Pacific Railway built the Trans-Canada Railway, they started from the East Coast and the West Coast and attempted to join up at the middle. This is the very place where the railway tracks from both coasts joined up. The white arrow marks the "last spike", the point where the construction of the railway was complete and the 2 coasts of Canada were finally connected by rail.
