Regensburg - The Steinerne Brucke (Old Stone Bridge) was built in the 11th century and it is the first bridge to be built across the Danube river. Being the only bridge across the Danube in the medieval times, the old stone bridge played a vital role for Regensburg's prosperity and it secured Regensburg as one of the most important cities in Central Europe.
