Me and the Peace Arch. The arch, sitting right on top of the Canada-USA border, was built in 1921 with the money collected by schoolchildren in both Canada and USA. The arch commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Ghent in 1814 and the Rush-Bagot Agreement in 1817, which provided for an unguarded Canada-USA border from the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the Bay of Fundy.
